The Peoria Art Guild and Peoria Riverfront Museum Present....

The Peoria Art Guild and the Peoria Riverfront Museum will co-sponsor an exhibit of selections from the private art collection of George and Norma Kotteman at the Riverfront Museum.  The show, which will honor the lives of a very special couple who have enriched the culteral life of Peoria, will run from April 8 through July 9, 2017.  A reception for members of the Peoria Art Guild will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Friday, April 7.

For decades, George and Norma Kottemann found ways to share their passion for the arts by supporting art organizations and artistis activities throughout Central Illinois.  George Kottemann served on the board of the Peoria Art Guild for more than 40 years and was instrumental in the recent sculpture installation of Bruce White's "Portal", featured ion the traffic circle at Harrison and Washington.

"The Peoria Art Guild is pleased that,  in cooperation with the Riverfront Museum, we can now share representative works from the Kottemann's collection with the whole community'" said Bill King, president of the Peoria Art Guild board of directors.  "This cooperative event provides a unique opportunity to view a world-class art collection in the museums's elegant gallery space."

"This selection of more than 40 works collected by George and Norma Kottemann during their life together is representative of their passion for sculpture, studio art, glass, paintings, and prints by artists whose works they treasured," said Ann Schmitt, Vice President of Programs and Lead Curator for the Peoria Riverfront Museum.  "Many of these pieces are by artists the Kottemanns had met personally, and the works tell the story of their journey together as collectors, patrons of the arts, and ardent supporters of the arts community in our town.  It is an honor to be able to work with the Peoria Art Guild and the Kottemann's children to share that story with Peoria."
