Peoria's First Iron Pour run by FEmale Identified Artists

As part of the Citywide Celebration of Women in the Arts with ArtsPartners, Black Dog Metal Arts is hosting the first public iron pour run by female identified artists in Peoria’s history at the Peoria Art Guild. Local female identified artists are teaming up with female iron casters from around the country to pour thousands of pounds of molten hot iron! This event is free and open to the public. Come watch this exciting historic event!

Make your own cast iron art! Scratch blocks will be for sale throughout the day ranging in price from $25 to $50. Purchase a blank scratch block and carve your own art in to it, then watch the artists pour molten metal in to your piece right before your eyes!

In addition to the pour, Kristen Tordella-Williams, Assistant Professor of Art at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and Jam Lovell, Curator at Illinois Central College and owner of Black Dog Metal Arts LLC, are co-curating a Women in Iron exhibition at the Prairie Center of the Arts. Fierce: Women in Iron will showcase iron artworks created by female-identified artists from around the world. The dates for this show are November 1 - 30, 2019 with an opening reception on Friday, November 1st. This exhibition will be free and open to the public.
