August 24- August 31, 2020 Repeated Pattern Block Printing

In this beginning block printing course, students will use classic tile patterns to create stunning prints on paper and fabric. Printmaking artist-in-residence Peggy West will guide students through choosing a tile pattern, planning and sketching a repeat-pattern stamp block, carving with Speedball Easy Carve block material and lino-cut tools, and hand block printing with paper and fabric inks. All materials will be provided to complete a paper print and a tea towel.

Ages: 16+
Materials: Optional - 100% cotton fabric items (e.g., tea towel, placemat, napkin) if the student wants to do additional printing on fabric.)
We are committed to the health and safety of students, instructors and patrons, Our organization will be following recommended guidelines for Phase 4 of reopening: Anyone exhibiting symptoms will not be permitted in the building. Class sizes will be limited and workstations set up to allow 6 ft social distance between students and instructors. Masks are required for everyone. Each classroom will contain hand sanitizer and sanitizing stations.
