Peoria Art Guild Ceramics Studio

At the Peoria Art Guild, our ceramics studio offers a welcoming and creative space for exploring the art of clay. This studio is perfect for anyone who wants to develop their skills in wheel throwing and hand-building. We welcome beginner and novice artists of all backgrounds, as well as more experienced ceramicists looking to continue growing their practice. Students, artists, teachers, and community members engage with clay here, many of them for the first time.

Our studio is fully equipped with pottery wheels, hand-building tools, work tables, and a variety of glazing materials. We also have kilns on site for Studio Safety Monitors to fire finished work. Whether you’re shaping clay on the wheel, sculpting by hand, or experimenting with surface design and glazing, our ceramics studio provides the tools and environment to support your creative process. Classes and open studio hours offer opportunities to learn, practice, and explore ceramics in a hands-on, supportive setting. Ceramics Open Studios

Open studio sessions offer an exciting opportunity to work independently in our ceramics studio. These sessions are ideal for those who want dedicated time and space to create outside of a structured class. Shared studio resources include pottery wheels, hand-building tools, basic studio equipment, and glazing materials. Work will be fired in our kilns by our trained Studio Safety Monitors or Peoria Art Guild staff.

Sessions are “pay-as-you-go” for monthly or individual attendance. The fee helps cover the cost of shared studio materials, glaze use, and kiln firings.

An experienced ceramics monitor will be present in the studio to assist with questions, ensure safe studio practices, and help maintain a clean, respectful workspace.

Requirements:

Enrollees must be at least 18 years old

  • A Peoria Art Guild Member OR

  • Have taken a ceramics class with the Peoria Art Guild.

  • Must be knowledgeable in the safe use of pottery wheels, tools, glazing areas, and clean-up procedures.

  • Students should purchase or own a 10-piece pottery tool kit. Communal tools are limited.
