“ ‘Gathering,’ a collaborative exhibition was held at Habatat Gallery in Royal Oak, Michigan featuring some of the most influential artists using glass. Glass sculptor, John Miller, selected 30 artists pairing up with each of them for a collaboration and intersection, creating a single composite work of art. The idiosyncratic embellishment by a colleague both interprets Miller’s art and takes it to some new hybridized realm. These artists were chosen for their significant efforts in the advancement of the contemporary glass movement. The elegant form of the traditional Venetian Goblet was the initial inspiration for Miller’s ‘High Volume’ series. Miller adapted these ideas and techniques to create a body of work where the goblet forms were dramatically increased, reaching heights of 3 to 5 feet. These sort of collaborations provide artists opportunities to explore new ideas and pursue ambitious projects.” ~James Yood, Chicago Art Institute
